Christmas Wreath Workshop

I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph a wreath workshop and afternoon tea, for promotional content.

The workshop was being run by Delphi Flowers, which is based in RIngmer. The delicious cream tea was supplied by the lovely ladies at Connie and Cooper Catering. The decorations and beautiful vintage tableware was supplied by Betty Loves Vintage, and this all took place at the stunning venue of Milwards Estate in Laughton.

It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. It was a fun and Christmassy thing to do. I highly recommend if you’ve never done one to try it out. This one came with the added bonus of a delightful cream tea afterwards. There were delicate finger sandwiches, scones with jam and some stunning cakes, not to mention my favourite, sausage rolls. I was lucky enough to get to have some of the amazing food.

It was such a lovely atmosphere, with Christmas music, mulled wine and everyone enjoying spending time together, unlike last year when it all happened over Zoom.

It was so nice to be out again and doing something other than being at home. I look forward to being able to experience more fun things, hopefully life can get back to normal soon.

Double the trouble, but double the cuddles

So here we are in lockdown for the second time. I am unable to work again and have had to cancel more photo shoots. I have had no wedding work since the outbreak and have had many couples cancel and decide to have a small ceremony with no photographer, but I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph some lovely families and some gorgeous little babies this year. This photoshoot was really special to me as I had already photographed this lovely couple on their wedding day. It was a joy to be messaged by them and to be asked to photograph them and their ten month old twin boys. They wanted to have the photographs taken where they got married and I had taken some of their wedding shots. Grange Gardens in Lewes is a beautiful spot. It did not disappoint on this very hot day in August. They had planted beautiful wildflowers boarders instead of the usual manicured beds this year because of the Covid 19 restrictions and staffing. It still look stunning and made a lovely backdrop for the photographs.

It was an absolute joy to be reunited with this fabulous couple and to photograph their beautiful baby boys. It really was a highlight for me this year. It means so much to me to be asked to document this wonderful families milestones. The thought that my photographs sit in their and their families homes means so much. It’s always a privilege to be a part of someones special moments. Here’s to a better 2021 and being able to get back out there and to be able to share more special times with some lovely people.

Bo - Happiness is a fluffy puppy

I had the pleasure to briefly meet my niece’s eight week old golden retriever puppy. We had a very short visit and photoshoot. There will be more shoots when he’s bigger and it’s not so hot! His name is Bo and he was the most well behaved and gentle fluffy boy.

I completely understand how dogs are used to help with therapy, we all felt better and buzzing after a visit from this gorgeous cuddly guy.

Enough of the chat as I know you only came here for the photographs.

A Room of One's Own - Garden Huts shoot

I have done several jobs for this client and they contacted me in January to take photographs of their new venture. They had a couple of shepherds huts for people to stay in at nearby Bentley Wildfowl Museum and Gardens. Unfortunately Bentley has now closed, so my client decided to move the huts into their garden in Rodmell, so they can run a B&B from there. They asked me to take some external and internal photographs for their social media and online presence. I luckily had a bright, but cold day for the shoot. I also had the cutest helper and model in their labradoodle Maggie. It was lovely to be able to include her in the photographs as she bought a friendly and welcoming feeling to them.

Rodmell is a lovely location. It is on the South Downs Way walk. Rodmell is the village where Virgina Woolf and her husband Leonard lived, so you can visit her old home Monk House. It is also in close proximity to Charleston Farm House where her sister Virgina Bell lived and was the home of the Bloomsbury set.

There are three huts, a large blue one called Ouseside, a smaller green hut called Caburn and a luxurious bathroom hut, which has a beautiful roll top bath in it. Ouseside has a mini kitchen and en-suite bathroom with a shower. they both have double/king sized beds.

They are available to stay in from March and their facebook page is called Garden Huts or call them, if you fancy a visit to the Sussex countryside, 07941 133370.

Newnham College, Cambridge - Head shots

I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph an amazing group of young women. They are all on a June event committee for Newnham College, Cambridge. They needed some head shots for their launch event and their social media.

Newnham College is an amazing college. It was established in 1871 as a house in which young women could reside while attending lectures in Cambridge, long before they were allowed to become full members of the university with the granting of degrees to women in 1948.

Newnham is beautiful with stunning grounds and buildings. They have bright red bricks and large Victorian sash windows. It was important that the backdrop of the photographs were Newnham, especially as it is where the event is being held. We were lucky to have a dry and bright sunny day for the shoot, but as it was January it was still rather chilly.

All the committee members were asked to wear pastel colours, so there would be a cohesive look to the photographs. When you are working on individual images that need to be a part of a bigger group of photographs a colour theme can really help pull those images together.

I was very pleased with all the photographs. The ladies were so lovely and it was a pleasure to meet them all. I wish them well for their June event and I hope it will be a huge success.
